A Man’s Version of the Ideal Grooming Regimen – Part 2

What else is involved in a perfect grooming regimen for men besides nails and teeth, as covered in Part 1 of this series?  Several things, actually.  And one great thing is that when you get your basics figured out and gathered conveniently for daily use, the routine requires less time.  Another great thing is that you’ll look your best every day.

Groom Your Locks.  This may seem obvious, but you can’t look your best unless your hair is tamed.  Hair is one of the most important components to looking good, and it can be tough to get your hair just right when it’s time for an essential appointment.  On any windy day, your hair can get badly mussed up.  And then, depending on your type of hair and the climate you live in, humidity can give you lots of bad hair days.

What you’ll need for hair grooming:  A brush, a comb, and appropriate hair products (depending on your particular needs and style preferences).

  • Men with thick, curly hair should choose a comb with wide teeth; the kind of comb you use makes a world of difference.
  • Brush your hair in the morning with a soft bristle brush or whichever type of brush can give you a gentle scalp massage without pulling out your hair.  This process is good for your scalp and releases needed oils for your hair.
  • If you have dandruff, use a stiff-bristle brush which will help keep your dandruff under control better and will stimulate good blood flow in your scalp.
  • Choose a flake-proof gel, as needed, and keep it handy for daily grooming.

Deal With Your Unibrow.  Removing unattractive, unwanted hair is an essential grooming step for men who are excessively hirsute.  Whether you need to get an eyebrow wax in order to control your unibrow, get hair removed from your ears, back, or chest, hair removal may need to be a part of your regular grooming regimen.  Keep some nose hair removers in your grooming kit.  It’s very handy to have a multi-purpose razor that can also help with removing hair in small places, such as your nose or ears.

Be sure to check out the final part of this continuing series of grooming regimens for men.
